In ancient Korea (more specifically in the Joseon era, when the korean peninsula was one kingdom) each village had a type of school called Seodang(서당). The Seodang was run solely by the teacher who was called Hoonjang-nim(훈장님). The main function of this institution was to educate children to read and teach them philosophy by memorizing ancient proverbs. Being a korean, I thought it would be pretty cool to have Cheerilee as a traditional korean school teacher. Hope you enjoy!
